OK, we’ll do that. Now tell us why you think the stimulus had any impact at all in ending the recession by July 1 of 2009.
Has it simply tied up U.S. capital and credit markets?

I live in MI. I can most assuredly say the recession is not over, infact we are just getting in deeper and deeper here.

Gee tell that to the millions who are still looking for a job, or have given up because their jobs were permanently eliminated…oh, and wait…we are monatizing our debt which is sure to drive up inflation which means you will have to pay more for goods, without the job you don’t have anymore…yeah we are in great shape thanks to Obama and friends.

I’ll admit it when my son, who has a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, but was laid off from Telecom about a year ago, finds another well deserving job.

You’re right, the recession was over last year. I heard this on Fox News a looooong time ago. It seems that there are only those who WANT to think that Republicans don’t think the recession is over.

The government is good at creating wildly imaginative numbers. For the past several months, regardless of the ups and downs in employment, the unemployment stayed at the advertised rate of 9.6%. The actual unemployed is over 17%.
Here’s what “the recession is over” actually meant: GDP was 15 trillion. During the recession it dropped to 12 trillion. When the GDP rose to 12.01 trillion, the recession was over.
Anyone who believes government statistics is being foolish.

The recession certainly isn’t over here in California which is THE LARGEST economy in the nation.

im democrat and in california the recession is far from over

Unemployment is still above 9%. I wonder if Democrats think that show the economy is good. I assume yes because they ask question like this.

How about when unemployment is down to 5%?
How about when government revenue rises without a raise in tax rates?
How about when people have disposable income and are confident enough to spend it?
I think the answer you are avoiding is that IT IS NOT OVER. Just because you believe it is over does not make it so. Get a grip.

Recession is over?? Tell that to the woman I just talked to. Her employer just cut her hours back and she is short $ 300 a week now. She has five kids.
Tell that to the construction worker, who has no work because no one is building anything. Tell that to the county employees who have had no pay increase in two years and have to take one day a week off. You can also tell that to the seniors on SS, they have not had a cost of living increase in the two years Obama has been President. Yeah man…it is only beginning…more foreclosures coming, millions. Commercial foreclosures next year. Yeah man, guess its over huh?
